01 type

This project, which began with the ideas of magical realism and the shadow mechanism, has come to hold a deeper meaning than I initially expected.

Each real dataset — the number of the dead, the dates of the incidents, and the geographical coordinates of the sites — is translated into spatial dimensions, allowing the data to manifest as architecture.

Each stage — the Cave, the Shore, and the Oreum — is based on real locations where the incidents occurred, and each also represents a symbolic site of Jeju Island’s natural wonder.

Through this game, I reconstructed these spaces using data inputs, transforming numerical records into architectural environments.

DALSHI

Dalshi is a game which proposes a way to quantify the emotional and re-sensitise the quantified, developing an architectural methodology grounded in magical realism.

Using numerical data from the Jeju 4.3 Uprising (1947–54) — a civilian massacre in South Korea — the project transforms factual records into virtual architecture. Rather than depicting memory symbolically, it constructs space through data itself: figures of victims, dates and incidents become measurable parameters such as wall thickness, stair height or rhythm of collapse.
